Villa Campanella stands on the edge of the Trapani salt pans nature reserve in western Sicily, a landscape of windmills and salt flats where salt has been harvested for centuries. Managed by WWF, the reserve is an important stopover for migrating birds travelling between Europe and Africa, flamingos among them.
With seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms and room for up to 14 guests, the villa is a fine choice for large families or groups looking for a villa with an infinity pool in Sicily.
Recently renovated, the property is made up of a main house and an annexe, both bright and comfortable inside. The main house has a living room with a fireplace and dining area, a second living room, the kitchen, five double bedrooms and five bathrooms.
The annexe next door holds two more double bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, sharing a kitchenette, which gives a couple or a second family their own space. Air conditioning, Wi-Fi, satellite TV, a hi-fi system, a safe, dishwasher and washing machine are provided, along with a high chair and daily housekeeping.
A well-kept garden with lawn wraps around the villa. The infinity pool and wide terraces, set up for dining outdoors, look out across the surrounding landscape, and there is free parking on site.
The beach at Marausa Lido and the historic centres of Trapani and Marsala are a short drive away. Further afield, the medieval town of Erice, the temples of Segesta and Selinunte, the Egadi islands and the Zingaro nature reserve, together with the popular beach of San Vito Lo Capo, are all well worth a day out.
