Villa Fontana

Villa Fontana is a restored farmhouse in the Val d'Orcia, just outside the medieval village of Monticchiello and 5 km from Pienza, in southern Tuscany.

With seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms for up to 14 guests across two independent units, it is well suited to family reunions and groups of friends who want space, privacy and the classic Tuscan landscape on the doorstep.

The house covers 700 square metres and was restored with care to keep its original features, including wooden-beamed ceilings and windows that open onto wheat fields, olive groves and cypresses.

The ground floor, once the stables, sleeps ten: a chef's kitchen, a large living and dining room with double doors to the front patio and rear garden, a smaller sitting room with a stone fireplace and deep red sofas, a relaxation room, five en-suite bedrooms and a service bathroom.

An outdoor stone staircase leads to the upper unit, the former farmworkers' quarters, which sleeps four. Here four arched windows look across the valley and the great oak in front of the house, with a second stone fireplace, a full kitchen and two en-suite bedrooms, one with a jacuzzi bath.

A laundry room is available to guests.

The pool, 15 metres long, sits on a landscaped terrace beside the house, framed by terracotta pots of geraniums, wild roses, lavender and rosemary, with tables and loungers all around.

A covered dining area with fireplace, pizza oven and barbecue is the place for long dinners at sunset, and a wide lawn keeps the valley view open.

This stretch of the Orcia valley has been a stopping point on the Via Francigena for a thousand years. Monticchiello is 2 km away, Chianciano 10 km, Cortona 25 km, Montalcino 34 km, Siena 54 km and Florence 110 km. A villa with private pool in Tuscany for those who love art, countryside and quiet.
