Villa il Convento sits among vineyards and olive groves at San Casciano in Val di Pesa, in the Tuscan hills between Florence and Siena.

The main villa of around 530 square metres and an 80-square-metre cottage together offer six bedrooms and eight bathrooms for up to 15 guests, making it a villa with a private pool near Florence that works well for extended families and groups of friends.

The main house is furnished in classic, rustic Tuscan style with modern comforts. The bright ground floor has a large dining room opening onto the garden, a fireplace, two kitchens and several lounges for reading, playing cards or enjoying a glass of Chianti, plus a double bedroom with private bathroom.

Upstairs are four more double bedrooms, one with twin beds that can be joined, each with its own bathroom, all opening onto a big lounge with a traditional Tuscan fireplace; air conditioning is available on this floor. A sofa bed in one of the sitting rooms adds two places.

The cottage, a few metres away with its own entrance, has a high-ceilinged living space with fireplace, kitchen, dining area and shower room downstairs and a spacious bedroom on a gallery above, plus a sofa bed.

The estate is fenced, with two gates, and the garden is planted with flowers, vegetables and fruit trees framed by stone walls. The mosaic-decorated pool lies on the terrace just below the villa, with an open view over the hills and sunsets, and a heated hydromassage pool alongside.

Between house and pool, an underground wellness area stays cool in summer; its gym opens onto the pool, with a changing room, bathroom and shower.

Shops and supermarkets in Mercatale are 2 km away. Florence and its airport are about 30 km, San Gimignano 40 km, Siena 55 km and Pisa airport 80 km.
