Villa il Vecchio Borgo

Villa il Vecchio Borgo stands in the hilltop village of Monsummano Alto, above Monsummano Terme in the province of Pistoia, with wide views over the valley below.

Its five bedrooms and five bathrooms accommodate up to 14 guests, and with a heated pool and a Jacuzzi in the garden it makes a characterful villa with a pool in Tuscany for families and friends.

The house plays old against new. The building dates back to the late 1400s, and the upstairs bedrooms keep their small original window openings, while the furniture is deliberately modern and pared back.

The ground floor has a well-equipped kitchen opening to the garden, with dishwasher, oven and Italian moka pots, and a living room with two sofas, armchairs, a work desk and a dining table that seats 14. Two double bedrooms with en-suite shower rooms complete this floor.

Upstairs are three more en-suite bedrooms, one of them with a double bed plus two singles in an adjoining small room, and one with a small balcony. Every room has air conditioning and wi-fi and looks out towards the hill of Monsummano Alto and the surrounding valleys.

Outside, the private pool, 6 by 3.9 metres, is framed by the Tuscan hills and can be heated, as can the Jacuzzi set among the trees of the garden. There is an outdoor dining area with barbecue, plenty of seating and parking on site.

Monsummano Alto is reached from Monsummano Terme by a winding uphill road of about 2 km, largely screened by trees on the west side of the hill.
