Villa Positano is a historic residence built in 1741 in the oldest quarter of Positano, a short way from the church of San Giacomo, on the Amalfi Coast.
With 500 square metres of living space, twelve bedrooms and fourteen bathrooms, it sleeps up to 24 guests, making it one of the few holiday villas on the Amalfi Coast able to host an extended family, a large group of friends or a wedding party under one roof.
The house belongs to a period when wealthy shipowners trading across the Mediterranean built grand homes above the village and filled them with paintings, stucco work, decorated floors and frescoes as a statement of status.
In the early twentieth century, in the wake of emigration to the Americas and political upheaval, many such houses were abandoned, later to be brought back to life through careful restoration.
Today Villa Positano pairs that heritage with modern comfort: antique furniture and paintings sit alongside air conditioning, heating and Wi-Fi. Four extra single beds can be added to the twelve bedrooms when needed.
The great outdoor feature is a terrace stretching some 300 metres, lined with a colonnade and decorated in the eighteenth-century Neapolitan painting style, a tradition now represented in major museums around the world.
It is a striking setting for a reception or a long dinner, and the villa also has a private pool and a barbecue.
Its authentic atmosphere and generous spaces make Villa Positano a natural choice for weddings and celebrations, while daily housekeeping keeps longer stays running smoothly.
