Castle Medioevo & Design

Castle Medioevo & Design is a medieval tower on a hilltop near Todi, one of a ring of old strongholds around the town, with wide views over unspoilt Umbrian countryside.

Converted into suites and apartments across five floors, it has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms for up to 14 guests, an unusual villa for groups and families in Umbria.

Original features have been kept throughout: terracotta and white travertine floors, beamed ceilings and sandstone fireplaces, furnished with a mix of family pieces and contemporary design. A lift serves every floor.

At ground level are a wine-tasting room with a guest WC and a bright dining room, seating 12, next to the kitchen. The first floor holds two suites: the White Room, with a bathroom featuring shower and Jacuzzi and a small tea room where a child's bed can be added, and the open-plan Red Room.

The Gold Apartment fills the second floor, with a lounge and dining table for 12, two double bedrooms and a bathroom with hydromassage shower and sauna. Above it, the Blue Apartment has its own kitchen and lounge, two double bedrooms and a bathroom with double shower, Jacuzzi and twin basins.

The top of the tower, 24 metres up, is a roof terrace with seating for 12, a barbecue, an outdoor shower and loungers. Around the base, a historic park follows the layout of a nineteenth-century garden with a collection of antique roses, and a restored eighteenth-century chapel stands among the greenery.

40 metres deep, looks out over an old olive grove towards the sunset, with eight sun loungers and four deckchairs; the property is gated and has security cameras.

Todi is 10 km by car, with Deruta's ceramic workshops close by. Perugia, Assisi, Spoleto, Bevagna, Montefalco, Spello, Gubbio, Orvieto and the Marmore waterfalls all lie within roughly 30 to 40 km, along with the region's truffles, olive oil and Sagrantino wine.
