Villa Cassiopea is a historic house in Positano with five bedrooms and five bathrooms for up to ten guests. It suits families and groups of friends who want a holiday villa on the Amalfi Coast with genuine character, along with a private pool and a sauna.
The building started out as a monastery. From the 18th century it gathered rare and precious objects from the Middle East and other distant lands, carried by the merchants whose spice and silk routes passed through Positano, and that blend of cultures and traditions still shapes its decor today.
In the early 20th century, as Positano became a refuge for artists, the villa was home to Edward Ghillausen, a member of the German Bauhaus movement, and his wife. They lived here until 2000 and regularly hosted artists and writers, leaving the house steeped in art and culture.
Today it offers air conditioning, central heating, Wi-Fi, TV and a kitchen, with daily housekeeping, meal delivery and luggage storage available.
Arriving is simple. A public lift from the Amalfi Drive, running from 8am to midnight and operated independently of the villa, brings you to the door in a few minutes. If you prefer, a scenic ten-minute walk with 190 steps leads to the villa.
